The History of our Surf City Office
Our Surf City office (Action, Inc) was founded in 1969 by brothers Sidney and Hiram Williams and their father (an original Topsail entrepreneur and developer), Herbert Williams. They became a Century 21 Franchise shortly after the brand launched over 50 years ago; we were then Century 21 Action, Inc.; the most trusted real estate name servicing the Greater Topsail Island area including Hampstead, Holly Ridge, and Sneads Ferry.
Sidney and Hiram have extremely deep roots in the local community including; serving as the Mayor of Surf City, Town Councilman positions, and Committee Chairs and Associates at both City and County levels for County Zoning Ordinances, Environmental Health, President of the Topsail Island Association of Realtors, and President of the Wilmington Homebuilders Association, and more. Their father Herbert Williams opened the island’s first hotel and was very involved in local real estate developments and other local businesses.
They have owned many other local businesses in the Greater Topsail Area including Action Construction (which has built hundreds of top quality homes in the market area), Action Home Improvements, the Surf City Fishing Pier, a local Radio Station in Holly Ridge, Action Properties, High Tide Kennels (currently Pawville), Action Kitchens/Floors/ and Baths, Coastal Hydraulic Repair, and others. They also added the Vacation Rental management division and traditional long term rental management division to Century 21 Action, Inc.
In 1995 Scott Erickson joined the Century 21 Action team as a sale associate while completing a Double Major at UNCW in Marketing and also Business Management. Scott was the most successful new agent the firm had ever hired, he was less than half the age of the average Realtor at the time, and developed the nickname of “Computer Boy” due to his technical prowess. In the early 2000's Scott became the Broker in Charge of the firm, and also a Partner/Owner. Scott helped grow the company through organic growth, acquisitions of competitors, and exceptional marketing and coaching programs.
Scott become the sole owner of Century 21 Action, Inc. in 2013. During the three decades of Scott’s time in the Topsail Area he has launched, managed, and contributed to many other local endeavors/business with Angela including: Sweet Dreams Linens, Inc., Saltwater University Inc., With Pride Custom Rods, Topsail Dreams, Reel Dream Fishing, Actionable Dreams, Inc., and the Coastal Dreams Real Estate Team, Inc. Scott was the largest private employer in the Topsail Area before deciding to sell some of these successful ventures.
Jim Davis joined the Century 21 Action, Inc. team as a new sales agent after having a bad experience with his own real estate purchase with a less than professional company/agent. Jim realized it could be done better and with more integrity. With Jim's leadership and mentoring skills, he was quickly promoted to Century 21 Action's Sales Manager, overseeing and training the entire sales force. Jim focused on Quality Service, and it paid off with many agent and company Quality Service Awards being awarded.
Angela has been involved in the operation of this office and team for many years, often behind the scenes as her day to day job was serving as General Manager of one of Scott and Angela's other successful ventures, Sweet Dreams Linens, Inc. Upon the sale of Sweet Dreams, Angela joined the real estate office full time and is now an integral part of the team leading our social media activities and ensuring quality transactions. She is also the team's buyer's agent specialist.
This office has earned many awards including: Centurion Office and Agents, Gold Medallion, Pinnacle Awards, Quality Service, Master’s Awards, Marketing Awards, and more. Through the years, our office has had local satellite offices in Surf City, Topsail Beach, Sneads Ferry/North Topsail Beach, and Hampstead. We now service the entire Greater Topsail Island area out of our Surf City Office. Our office’s experience and knowledge in these markets is second to none.
In 2023 Scott merged Century 21 Action with Shirley Morrison and Century 21 Coastal Advantage. We are the Number 1 Century 21 Company in North Carolina.
